An exchange meeting was held at Hotel Ambassador on November 3rd at 2:30 PM with working children, organized by the Child Protection Coalition of Khulna, with the assistance of World Vision. The chief guest at the event was Mr. A.H.M. Shafiuzzaman, President of the Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB). Present at the meeting as special guests were Mr. Md. Selim, Deputy Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Khulna. Also present were Fully Sarker and Suravi Biswas from the partner organization World Vision. The meeting was chaired by Shamima Sultana Shilu, Convenor of the Child Protection Coalition and Executive Director of MASAS. The responsibility of facilitating the discussion was handled by Mr. M. Nazmul Azam David, Executive Director of PARIBARTAN-Khulna.. The focus of the discussion was on working children from the Shumjibi areas of Khulna’s 5th and 7th ghat. The event was facilitated by PARIBARTAN-Khulna as the secretariat of CAB. The meeting discussed the working environment of working children, their income, health risks, and related issues. The chief guest at the meeting requested the cooperation of partner organizations in ensuring the rightful rights of child laborers in the workplace.
