The Divisional level capacity building training on "Food Fortification and Consumers' Rights" organized by the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) was held on November 3, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Khulna Circuit House conference room. The overall program supported by PARIBARTAN-Khulna as Khulna CAB Secretariat.  The event was attended by Mr. A. H. M. Shafiquzzaman, President of CAB, as the chief guest; and Mr. Md. Selim, Deputy Director of the Department of National Consumer Rights Protection, Khulna, as a special guest. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Khulna. 

In his discussion, the chief guest spoke about the production of open oil, its harmful effects on the human body, and the existing laws related to its sale, calling on everyone to work together to halt its widespread sale. The Presidents and General Secretaries of CAB from various districts urged for public awareness campaigns at the community level to stop the sale of open oil. They also called for more active participation from district and sub-district CAB committees. 

Among government officials present were Ansar and VDP officers Mr. Md. Tarekul Islam, Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Health Educator Officer at the Civil Surgeon’s Office, Khulna; Md. Mokhllequurahman, Food Safety Officer; Dr. Sumona Tanjum Payel, Metro Lifestyle Officer at DSL; Mr. Rabiul Islam, officer at the Civil Surgeon’s Office; Dr. Rubaiyat Ara, District SIDD Officer; Mr. Walid Bin Habib, Assistant Director at DNC, Khulna; BSMI Assistant Director Md. Monir Hossain; Deputy Director Md. Lutfar Rahman. 

Among journalists, present were Md. Mehedi Hasan, Staff Reporter of The Daily Khulna; Sadhin Hasan, District Correspondent of Mohona TV; Md. Rifat Hasan of Desh Er Tathya; Debobrat Roy of Janmbhumi; Koushik Dey, Staff Reporter of Kaler Kantho; and Mostofa Zaman Poplu of Maasranga TV. Also present were district presidents and members of CAB from Jessore, Kushtia, Chuadanga, and other districts.
